Rodney Crowell is one of the most respected song writers of the modern era. I had the good fortune to play with Rodney during my tenure with one of his sidemen, Jedd Hughes. This particular song has always resonated with me due to its positive take on the plight of average human being. Some of the pedagogical considerations that I believe make this an important song for further study include: Train Beat Shuffle, Unison Hands, Independent Hands/Multiple Sticking, Consistency of Groove, Subtle Fills/Triplet Accents (Cross Reference this with the triplet grid exercises in Rhythms and Rates). In short, this is an excellent resource track for developing authentic shuffle feels.
